Villa Pehuenia

Villa Pehuenia is a mountain village located in the heart of the Andes Mountain range on the North coast of Lago Aluminé (Alumine Lake), 1,200m above sea level.

Surrounded by a unique landscape where the star is the Pehuén tree, Villa Pehuenia offers the visitor the possibility to practice nautical and mountain sports in summer and winter. Or simply give in to rest enjoying a beautiful view and good gastronomy.

A perfect combination of rivers, lakes, beaches, mountains, incredible sunsets, warmth and quietness.

Alumine Lake

This beautiful water mirror is the most northerly of the Patagonian Andes lake corridor. Numerous small islands of easy access and 57km of coast dotted by small woods of coihue trees and native species (pehuén, maitén, radal or ñire trees), with plenty of bays, peninsulas and long beaches of volcanic sand, offer the visitor great many heavenly corners. An ideal destination to enjoy excellent holidays during the southern summer.

A black rock appearing on the lake stands out in the venue, offering an incredible panoramic view. There are paths that go down to both sides accessing a semi private beach, hidden in a small bay surrounded by old coihue trees or, in the other direction, to a large open beach, long and sunny.

Due to the height of the area and its geographic situation in winter it snows a lot in the village and continues until September and, exceptionally, October.

To practice winter sports the snow park Batea Mahuida (in Mapuche territory) allows visitors to enjoy alpine skiing and snowmobiling. There are two lifting systems, a ski school in the hands of instructors of the same community and a cafe in the base of the mountain with all the services. Among other alternatives visitors can go on snowshoe hike to the volcano and to the pehuen trees forest.
